The Hospital da Luz is the official partner of the SL Benfica medical services
The Hospital da Luz will ensure clinical care to all Sport Lisboa e Benfica athletes in the next three years.
The protocol of partnership was signed today in the Sport Lisboa e Benfica SAD by the Sport Lisboa e Benfica president, Luís Filipe Vieira and by the chairman of the executive committee of the Grupo Espírito Santo Saúde, Isabel Vaz.
The agreement also provides the availability of the health facilities national network of the Grupo Espírito Santo Saúde to provide clinical care to professional sports teams athletes (A and B teams), youth football and other sports such as hockey, futsal, basketball, volleyball, handball and rugby.
The Sport Lisboa e Benfica athletes will have quick access to the Grupo Espírito Santo Saúde hospitals, in particular the Hospital da Arrábida (Vila Nova de Gaia), Clipóvoa – Private Hospital (Póvoa de Varzim), Cliria - Private Hospital (Aveiro), Hospital de Santiago (Setúbal) and Hospital da Luz – Oeiras Clinic.
Given their differentiation and proximity to the Estádio da Luz, the Hospital da Luz will be the unit where the athletes’ medical check-ups will be made, as well as the medical and surgical care that may be required, on the level of outpatient and inpatient, always connected with the Sport Lisboa e Benfica Medical Department.
Together with Sport Lisboa e Benfica, the Grupo Espírito Santo Saúde will also develop a set of health services for the Club’s members to use the same units of the Group’s health network, which will be announced in due course.
In the celebration of the contract, Luís Filipe Vieira, the Sport Lisboa e Benfica president, said that "Sport Lisboa e Benfica works with the best. The Grupo Espírito Santo Saúde hospitals are a benchmark of excellence in the medical field, I am sure that our athletes will have the best clinical care."
Meanwhile, Isabel Vaz, chairman of the executive committee of the Grupo Espírito Santo Saúde, said that "the Grupo Espírito Santo Saúde thanks the trust of an institution such as Sport Lisboa e Benfica, and believes that the Hospital da Luz, due to the breadth of what they offer and competence of their clinical staff, particularly in terms of Sports Medicine, will provide a partnership that will now be initialized with the success we all desire".
