The Hemodynamics Unit

The Hemodynamics Unit

The Hemodynamics Unit is focused on diagnosis and treatment of peripheral arterial and coronary heart disease, as well as disease of the valves of the heart.

This unit performs the latest procedures in the field of interventional cardiology, particularly in coronary angioplasty for both stable and unstable patients.

This procedure is now the preferred treatment for acute myocardial infarction.

Therefore, there is a permanent presence of this team of experts at the Hospital da Luz.

The Hemodynamics Unit was the first in Portugal to use a stereotactic magnetic navigation system (NIOB) in coronary angioplasty, as well as the first to implement an innovative type of stent, specifically designed for treating bifurcation lesions in coronary arteries. This intervention was published by international medical press.
