Since the beginning of the hospital, minimally invasive surgery has been one of Hospital da Luz’s main commitments, for the continual innovation associated with it, for the diversity of areas where it may be applied, and for the benefits it brings to patients, society and healthcare financing institutions.
The initial investment in the intelligent minimally invasive surgery room (OR1 from Storz) and, in 2010, in Da Vinci Si HD robotic surgery system has allowed our surgeons to develop a consistent and ever increasing working knowledge and acquisition of know-how in minimally invasive surgical techniques. In this hospital, countless highly complex procedures are performed regularly, using minimally invasive surgeries, namely robotic surgery.
The knowledge, acquired experience, and focus on training our nursing and medical teams in this type of surgical approach has turned Hospital da Luz Lisboa into a reference in robotic and minimally invasive surgery.
In 2013, the creation of the Robotic Surgery Center at the Hospital da Luz Lisboa consolidates one of Espirito Santo Saude’s main strategic pillars: innovation and excellence in medicine, in the important context of mobility and freedom of choice for European citizens, regarding the hospitals where they prefer for seek their care.
The Center of Robotic Surgery and Minimally Invasive Surgery has the latest technological resources along with internationally renowned experienced and competent professionals in the area of robotic and minimally invasive surgery.
