Hospital da Luz Lisboa Gynaecologist Performs Live Surgery in International Congress

Ginecologista do Hospital da Luz Lisboa realiza cirurgia ao vivo em congresso internacional

Filipa Osório, gynaecologist from Hospital da Luz Lisboa, was among the invited professionals to perform live streamed surgeries at the annual congress of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology, which took place in July 3-6, in Helsinki, Finland.

The live surgery was transmitted from the operating room of Hospital Natecia, in Lyon, France. The live surgeries streamed from this French hospital counted with the participation of the French surgeon Antoine Watrelot and the Belgian surgeon Rudi Campo.

The Hospital da Luz Lisboa gynaecologist performed two interventions, the first of which to a 34-year-olf female patient with profound endometriosis. The second surgery was the removal by laparoscopy of a 6 cm uterine fibroid, in a 36-year-old female patient.

Filipa Osório is a specialist in Gynaecology and Obstetrics since 2009, dedicated in particular to minimally invasive gynaecologic surgery (laparoscopy and hysteroscopy), in areas such as endometriosis, myomas, pelvic floor reconstruction, endometrial pathology and infertility surgery. She has already performed several live streamed surgeries from Hospital da Luz Lisboa, namely cases of profound endometriosis surgery, for the First Annual Middle East Society for Gynaecologic Endoscopy (MESGE) Congress / Turkish Society of Gynaecologic Endoscopy (TSGE), which took place in Antalva, in 2013, for the 42th Global Congress on Minimally Invasive Gynaecology, held in Washington, in 2013, for the 2nd Annual Middle East Society for Gynaecologic Endoscopy (MESGE) Congress / International Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy, held in Dubai, in 2014, and for the 3rd Annual Middle East Society for Gynaecologic Endoscopy (MESGE) Congress, which took place in Antalya, in 2015.
