Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Hospital da Luz on Benfica TV
Paloma Valdívia, physical therapist and coordinator of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Hospital da Luz, was interviewed in 'Em linha' on Benfica TV, the club's TV channel, on 21 April last.
Paloma Valdívia spoke about the various aspects of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the hospital, covering various methods of treatment. She works closely with all the Hospital da Luz services, particularly on neurological conditions, orthopedic diseases (especially post-fracture and post-orthopedic surgery recovery), rheumatic diseases (osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis, tendinopathies), pediatric rehabilitation (at various levels) and geriatric rehabilitation (assessment and training of balance, preventing falls, cognitive stimulation), among others.
The coordinator of the Hospital da Luz Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation also said it was important to understand that physical medicine and rehabilitation, usually associated with one of its components, physical therapy, is a much more comprehensive specialism.
