The Molecular Medicine Service of Hospital da Luz Lisboa recently obtained the renewal of accreditation as training center in nuclear medicine by European Union of Medical Specialists / European Board of Nuclear Medicine (UEMS / EBNM), after application and evaluation.
The European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS) is an organization with more than 50 years of existence, being responsible for the establishment of basic education principles for specialist physicians, aiming to achieve high and comparable levels of knowledge and facilitate the free circulation of such specialists between European Union member states and associated countries. The Nuclear Medicine Division and the European Board of Nuclear Medicine, operating together since 2003, were created to coordinate and harmonize education, and determine criteria of accreditation in the area of nuclear medicine, as well as guarantee the highest standards in this specialized area.

The Molecular Medicine Service of Hospital da Luz Lisboa received this accreditation by UEMS / EBNM, for the first time, in 2011. It is also accredited by the European Union of Medical Specialists for the practice of nuclear medicine and certified, according to NP EN ISO 9001:2008, by Bureau Veritas Certification, in the field of diagnostic procedures and molecular medicine therapeutics.
