Portugal’s President of the Republic Visits Hospital da Luz Lisboa Unit of Palliative and Continuing Care

Presidente da Républica visita unidade de cuidados paliativos do Hospital da Luz

Portugal’s President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, visited in December the Unit of Palliative and Continuing Care of Hospital da Luz Lisboa, where he met with the unit’s coordinator, Isabel Galriça Neto, and the hospital’s clinical director, José Roquette, spending most of his time talking with patients and professionals.

Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, who was received and accompanied by the CEO of Luz Saúde, Isabel Vaz, and the president of Fidelidade, Jorge Magalhães Correia, besides João Novais, the CFO of Luz Saúde, and Pedro Líbano Monteiro, executive director of Hospital da Luz Lisboa, met with the team in charge of the Palliative and Continuing Care Unit, discussing different aspects specific of that service, myths associated with such care and the relevant contribute it can bring for the quality of life of many patients and family, when provided in time and not only in the last days of life.

The President was received with manifest enthusiasm by all present and this visit was a special happening in this festive season for patients and respective families, and for all the professional staff.
