The incidence of developmental and behavioral disturbances in children is quite high (estimated at ~15-18% of children). They are among the most frequent causes of pediatric morbidity.
Child development has become a priority in pediatric health care due to increased public awareness of the impact of developmental disorders on the future lives of children, as well as attention brought about by more inclusive policies at schools and child care organizations, in addition to continued scientific advances in the neurosciences.
