Hospital da Luz Ensures Clinical Assistance in Benfica Run
More than 12 thousand participants attended, in April 9, the 12th Corrida do Benfica – António Leitão, a run with two distances, 10 and 5 km, which had Hospital da Luz, official medical provider of SL Benfica, as one of the major sponsors.
The run, that has been increasing in the number of participants each year, was once again a success, counting with the presence of about 300 collaborators from several units of Luz Saúde group, namely Hospital da Luz Lisboa, Hospital da Luz Clínica de Oeiras, Hospital da Luz Clínica da Amadora and Hospital Beatriz Ângelo, which participated in the running (10 and 15 km).
In the general classification, the main run (10 km), starting near Hospital da Luz Lisboa, was won by Rui Pinto (senior men category), SL Benfica athlete, who cut the finish line with 30 minutes and 36 seconds. Dulce Félix, also SL Benfica athlete, was the winner in the category of senior women, with the time of 36 minutes and 18 seconds, at the end of the 10 km.
Luís Miguel Alves da Silva, nurse in the external consultation service of Hospital Beatriz Ângelo, 153rd in the general classification and 70th in the senior men category, was the best classified Luz Saúde collaborator in the 10-km run, with a time of 42 minutes and one second. Catarina Guerreiro, consultation assistant at Hospital da Luz Lisboa, was the best classified Luz Saúde female collaborator in the 10-km run, with a time of 51 minutes and 2 seconds, being the 1101st in the general classification and the 32nd in the category of senior women.
The previous day took place SL Benfica Corrida da Pequenada, also counting with large participation. About a thousand children, in several categories, aged between 7 and 14, among them many family members of collaborators from Hospital da Luz Lisboa, Hospital da Luz Clínica de Oeiras, Hospital da Luz Clínica da Amadora and Hospital Beatriz Ângelo, participated with great enthusiasm in the runnings organized at Benfica Stadium.
Hospital da Luz, official medical service provider of SL Benfica, ensured for the fourth consecutive year, clinical assistance to the event, with a medical centre equipped with the technical and human resources necessary to respond to the run’s requirements, including two doctors and eight nurses, counting with the support of 10 firemen and four ambulances for the eventual transport of athletes.
