Human Resources Director from Hospital de Santiago obtains Master’s Degree
Margarida Suzano, human resources director at Hospital de Santiago, obtained a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Management from Escola Nacional de Saúde Pública, at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, with Good (16) grading.
The analysis of hospital readmission rate subsequently to the creation of Local Heath Units, which translates the adoption of a model based in integrated management of hospital primary and continuing healthcare, was at the basis of the work leading to a dissertation entitled «Comparative analysis of hospital readmission in local health units and hospitals». Departing from the evaluation of about 692 thousand internment cases in 2013, Margarida Suzano concluded that the readmission frequency in local health units was higher than in hospitals, and that these results could indicate difficulties in operating the management model adopted by Local Health Units, namely failure in the coordination of different levels of care provision.
The jury evaluating the dissertation in public defence included assistant professors Paulo Alexandre Faria Boto and Sílvia da Silva Lopes, from Escola Nacional de Saúde Pública, and Carlota Zenaide Sousa Louro da Cruz, from Faculdade de Ciências Médicas of Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
