Hospital da Luz Setúbal Screening Detects About 100 People with Diabetes
Hospital da Luz Setúbal offered, on November 14, the World Diabetes Day, 300 free screenings to the population in general. About 100 people were immediately referred to consultation in General and Family Medicine (with diabetes speciality), for they were diagnosed with the disease.
This Hospital da Luz Setúbal initiative was organized by Paula Dias, coordinator of General and Family Medicine in that unit.
It is worth mentioning that diabetes is a chronic and silent disease in most cases. About 40% of Portuguese ignore that they have the disease, hence the importance of this screening.
