In 2000, Luz Saúde acquired in Aveiro its first hospital unit, Cliria, current Hospital da Luz Aveiro. Twenty-six years after, the group has expanded, returning to the starting point today to officially inaugurate Hospital da Luz Clínica da Ria, in a symbolic ceremony that counted with the presence of several prominent figures, besides many collaborators. “Aveiro will be for always special to us”, started by remembering Isabel Vaz, the Luz Saúde CEO. Hospital da Luz Clínica da Ria has been created to “continue serving those who elect us to take care of their health”, she highlighted, further explaining: “Our goal is not to compete with the National Health Service, but to cooperate with it. We wish to complement, not to withdraw”. And in a time where there is so much talking about the risks of Artificial Intelligence, she defended that “there is no sector better than Health to prove that there is a place for Humanity”: “Medicine is a confrontation with Humanity and the physicians here present know that this is the clinical strategy centre of Luz Saúde group. That is what we do in this clinic, in the place where we were born and where we continue to invest”. “As you all know, we have been fighting for years for the qualification of Aveiro’s public hospital, but it is also crucially important for us that quality private projects keep advancing, as is the case with this unit that we inaugurate today”, stated on its turn the municipality president, Luís Souto Miranda, who unveiled the plaque marking the inauguration of the clinic. “I have the perception that the people of Aveiro have got into the habit of coming by Cliria, which is a promising sign for you, since it translates their trust in the health service provided”, he reminded, complimenting afterwards the location of the new Hospital da Luz clinic, near the railway station, where the municipality “holds ambitious plans to create a new centrality that will characterize the future of the city”. “Congratulations for the work that has been developed. I wish you the best success. It is crucial to attract quality health professionals, and the city is quite committed to achieve that, being able to offer people conditions to be happy to work in Aveiro”, concluded Luís Souto Miranda. “One more step in the commitment to be closer to the population” “This clinic represents another step in our commitment to be closer to Aveiro’s population and meet their growing needs. That could only be possible through the expansion and requalification of our services, which is what we have done”, stated Pedro Beja Afonso, executive manager of Hospital da Luz Network in the central region, thanking all those who have collaborated in the project. “We live in times where people increasingly seek for quality services, while wishing for proximity, convenience, quicker access, and an experience focused on their needs. It was with that purpose in mind that we have created this clinic”, he added, reminding that this is also “a differentiating project that invests on neurosciences and the treatment of diseases of the head and neck”. “Hospital da Luz Clínica da Ria is a unit born with the ambition to practise the best Medicine, but also with the humility to learn everyday and respond adequately to the expectations of those who come to us”, concluded Pedro Beja Afonso. Hospital da Luz Clínica da Ria has opened doors on May 28 this year, being increasingly sought by the population of Aveiro. Located in a modern building in the centre of the city, the new clinic represents another important investment of Luz Saúde in the region. It operates in integration with Hospital da Luz Aveiro, complementing its activity and offering alternative health services – namely consultations in various medical and surgical specialities, including neurophysiology, neurology, neurosurgery, psychology, and psychiatry, in the context of a particularly strong bet on neurosciences. It has a full imaging centre providing exams such as 3T magnetic resonance, echography, and CBCT.
