Obesity Surgery - gastric bypass

'Gastric bypass is one of the latest solutions for the treatment of obesity, removing 80% of excess weight', according to Correio da Manhã newspaper on 20th September, 2015.  

The Director of Surgery at Hospital da Arrábida, Dr. Mario Nora explains the criteria and the process of laparoscopic surgery, the aim of which is to reduce the size of the stomach and change the action of the digestive tract, reducing food intake and changes in absorption.

Between 60 and 80 of these surgical procedures are performed every year at the Hospital da Arrábida.
