18,000 participants, including 110 from Hospital da Luz, transformed the city of Porto into a moment of celebration, color and, of course, plenty of exercise. Held on December 28th, the Lidl São Silvestre Cidade do Porto race continued the tradition – a tradition of which Hospital da Luz is also now a part. The race started at 6 pm on Avenida dos Aliados and finished next to Porto City Hall, on a course marked by a festive atmosphere, great popular participation and strong public support throughout the entire route – reads the official race website. Hospital da Luz joined forces with Lidl S. Silvestre Cidade do Porto this year for a social responsibility initiative, inviting everyone to ‘run for a cause’. Thus, each kilometer run by registered employees of Hospital da Luz Arrábida, HL Clínica do Porto and HL Clínica Santa Maria da Feira was worth 2 euros, which were donated by Hospital da Luz to the Portuguese Association of Cerebral Palsy. In the men's competition, victory smiled again on Rui Pinto of Sporting CP, who completed the 10 km in a time of 28m48s. Second place was won by André Pereira, of GDR Santa Tecla, with 29m21s, followed by João Amaro, of SC Braga, who closed the podium with 29m51s. In the women's race, Mariana Machado, representing SC Braga, was the fastest, crossing the finish line with a time of 33m21s. In second place was Susana Godinho Santos, from SC Beira-Mar, with a time of 33m43s, while Mónica Silva, from CDS Salvador do Campo, secured third place, finishing in 34m09s. Congratulations to the winners. A nd a special thank you to everyone who wore the Hospital da Luz shirt and ran for a cause, joining this challenge that combines health, team spirit and solidarity. It was an excellent way to end 2025, with energy, motivation and a positive contribution to the community. Thank you all!
