First, it seemed strange, but in the meanwhile it turned into a trend. We are talking about juices and smoothies mixing fruits and raw vegetables , water or tea, designated as “detox”, giving the idea of accelerating or at least helping to detoxify the body after a food excess. We should rather see such juices and smoothies – green, orange, yellow, etc., in endless combinations – as another option to promote the consumption of fruits and raw vegetables . And when the proportions and “affinities” between ingredients are respected, even the most sceptical or orthodox in what concerns food may find that they are quite tasty, fresh and satiating . Therefore, keep in mind that the so-called “detox” drinks… … are a good option to consume vitamins, minerals and fibres; … like all other foods, they should be integrated in a varied and complete diet plan; … should not be used as total substitutes of the main meals; … are perfect for snacks and very easy to prepare, but in general don’t have a long period of conservation, having to be consumed promptly. Finally, an advice for those starting with these recipes: Respect the proportion of 60% fruit to 40% green vegetables . Then, gradually, balance or even reverse the proportion.
