23 May 2019 Cradle cap or seborrhoeic dermatitis refers to yellowish crusts on the baby's scalp . Sometimes it also effects the ears and eyebrows. It is very common in newborns and is due to excessive fat production by the hair follicles. It does not cause any discomfort to the baby; it just looks unappealing. It disappears naturally before age one. It is possible to help by: Softening crusts with gentle massaging with sweet almond oil or Vaseline; Trying to remove them carefully with a rounded-end comb at bath time.
