20 May 2019 Intradiscal ozone therapy is a minimally invasive procedure using image-guided percutaneous puncture of the intervertebral disc to administer ozone. It does not involve major complications or require hospitalisation. This treatment may be indicated: In spinal pain (cervical, dorsal or lumbar) resistant to conservative medical treatment; In patients with or without previous surgical treatment and with no surgical indication due to neurological compromise and / or a migrated disc fragment. The treatment is also used when imaging studies show disc herniation or degenerative changes suggestive of radicular compromise. Intradiscal ozone therapy is currently performed as an alternative for degenerative conditions of the spine, especially for herniated discs. When performed by experienced neuro-radiologists or neurosurgeons, it has shown positive clinical results in about 80% of cases.
