Never so many babies had been born in the maternity from Hospital da Luz Lisboa , as in 2020: a total of 2.850, more 206 than in 2019. Altogether, last year, 6.154 babies were born in Grupo Luz Saúde hospital units, with the maternities of Vila Real and Guimarães also setting records – respectively, 224 (more 75) and 197 (more 26) births. Maria Clara Silvestre , in the photo above, was one of “our” babies: she was born on July 13, at Hospital da Luz Vila Real, with a 3.260 kg weight. But the great majority of the babies born in 2020 at Luz Saúde hospitals were boys: 3.137. After Hospital da Luz Lisboa, Hospital Beatriz Ângelo – in Loures, which integrates the National Health Service and is run by Luz Saúde in a public/private partnership – was the unit registering more births last year: 2.360. As for the other maternities, 264 babies were born at Hospital da Luz Arrábida (Vila Nova de Gaia), 188 at Hospital da Luz Póvoa de Varzim , and 71 at Hospital da Luz Aveiro .
