António Medina de Almeida , director of the clinical hematology service at Hospital da Luz Lisboa, did a public presentation to obtain a new academic title at the Portuguese Catholic University (UCP), on the 6th and 7th of May 2021, having been approved by a jury made up of five professors of the most important medical schools in the country. The specialist at Hospital da Luz, who is also director of the new Faculty of Medicine at UCP, discussed with the jury, on the first day of exams, the scientific curriculum, syllabus, and teaching methods of the new medical course, being the second day left for a lesson on “ Epigenetics in myeloproliferative neoplasms: disease mechanisms and treatement targets ”. The jury that evaluated and approved the new academic title of António Medina de Almeida was chaired by the Rector of the Catholic University, Isabel Capeloa Gil, being constituted by the professors Dr. Nascimento Costa, professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra, Forjaz de Lacerda, professor from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Lisbon, Jose Eduardo Guimarães, retired professor at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Porto, Fernando Nolasco, professor at the Faculty of Medical Sciences at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, and Alexandre Castro Caldas, professor at the Institute of Health Sciences at Universidade Católica Portuguesa. This new academic title is the step to become Full Professor . The approval of the candidate is based on his scientific and pedagogical curriculum and merits.
