Regular assessment of hearing and vision abilities in children is fundamental, even in those who have never shown difficulty in these areas. In this sense, Hospital da Luz Lisboa has created Ophthalmology and Otorhinolaryngology specific consultations and exams, for children in preschool age (5-6 years old), which are carried out in articulation and in the same day. Preschool Assessment of Hearing and Vision should be done ideally before starting primary education. The child is observed in an Ophthalmology consultation, where he takes all the necessary tests, and in an Otorhinolaryngology consultation, where he undertakes pure-tone and impedance audiometry.
