Around 1,700 people, among athletes and lovers of physical exercise, participated in the XXXI Corrida de S. Pedro , on June 30, in Póvoa de Varzim. As a part of the festivities of Santos Populares, the initiative broke this year the record of entries and had the clinical assistance of the Hospital da Luz Póvoa de Varzim. The hospital team – composed of Pedro Coutinho (General and Family Medicine doctor), Rita Moura (nurse) and Sara Costa (physiotherapist) – had its hands full during and after the events that constitute this initiative of the Póvoa do Varzim Town Council. The 10 km run, in which 1,500 athletes participated, was won by Licínio Pimentel (of Sporting Clube de Portugal), in the male category, and Mónica Silva (of Prozis), in the female category. The value of the registrations of the 200 people who made the 5 km Solidarity Walk along the waterfront and main streets of the city reverted to a local institution, the Instituto Madre Matilde. The Hospital da Luz Póvoa de Varzim thanks the organization for the invitation to join this event, which was once again a success.
