Anyone that resorts to Hospital da Luz Funchal , these days, is submitted to a clinical screening system, in order to identify immediately those who present acute respiratory problems and, in particular, those with higher risk of infection by COVID-19 . This screening is initialized at the entry of the building, where a tent has been installed to receive all that come to the hospital, being afterwards referred in a safe way, explained Miguel Silva , the clinical director of Hospital da Luz Funchal, in a statement to RTP Madeira. Watch the RTP Madeira reportage The hospital has established separate circuits for patients detected with higher risk of the disease, as well as an adequate isolation room. But, as Miguel Silva notes, Hospital da Luz Funchal, like the other private health units, “is not presently authorized to treat cases of infection by COVID-19”, all those cases being referred to the Health Service of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (Sesaram), namely to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça, in Funchal. Otherwise, due to the present context of pandemics, Hospital da Luz Funchal only assists, for now, the cases considered urgent and of priority. All clients with consultations and exams scheduled are being timely contacted.
