On the World Diabetes Day , on November 14, Hospital da Luz Arrábida organized several initiatives of awareness raising and prevention of this disease, registering high participation. Altogether, about a hundred screenings were performed, coordinated by nurse Liliana Loureiro, including blood pressure, glycemia and body mass index (BMI) measurements. Several cases of uncontrolled hypertension, diabetes and high BMI were identified. Along the afternoon, there were organized informational sessions on the topic, directed by a multidisciplinary team : Endocrinology – Dr Isabel Meneses General and Family Medicine – Dr Ana Silva Nutrition – Dr Dília Soares Cardiology – Prof Dr Damião Cunha Podology – Dr Susana Queirós Ophthalmology – Dr Maria Araújo In an atmosphere of dynamic and enlightening conversation , it was possible to share experiences and information related with diabetes.
