Filomena Ribeiro , the director of the Ophthalmology Service of Hospital da Luz Lisboa, was this year’s guest of honour of the Ophthalmologic Society of Madrid, to make the closing conference of its congress, on December 11. In her intervention, that had for motto “The Holy Grail of cataract refractive surgery”, Filomena Ribeiro approached the innovations in the sense of achieving the simultaneous correction of refractive defects in cataract surgery and total spectacles independence, in both near and distance vision. The ophthalmologist is specialized in refractive and cataract surgery and integrates the direction board of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS), the most representative European organization of ophthalmologists and leader in innovation in this surgical sector.
