Hospital da Luz Aveiro assumed the sponsorship of the male senior team and mini-basketball team of Clube do Povo de Esgueira, for the season 2021/2022 . The protocol established between the two institutions was signed by Pedro Beja Afonso, the administrator of Hospital da Luz Aveiro, and Rui Mourinho, president of Esgueira. Hospital da Luz Aveiro will, thus, provide medical services to the athletes integrating the club’s male senior team and beginners team. “This partnership allows athletes to have access to a diversified and highly specialized range of services and health professionals at Hospital da Luz Aveiro, that is developing a differentiating program in the area of Sports Medicine . This way, we are also fostering the practice of sport among the youngsters”, refers Pedro Beja Afonso. “It is very important this plurennial agreement established with Hospital da Luz, a national brand of prestige in healthcare, which improves substantially the medical support we provide to our players. We will do everything possible to be worthy of the trust placed on us, as vehicles of promotion of the brand in Aveiro’s sports and in Aveiro city”, stressed on its turn Rui Mourinho. Founded in 1956, Clube do Povo de Esgueira counts with about 250 athletes and, over these decades, it has been a real encouragement for hundreds of youths, leading them to practice enthusiastically a sports modality that has great acceptance and strong tradition in Aveiro. For Hospital da Luz Aveiro, this support assumes special importance, for it is the first protocol established with a sports club in this region .
