Hospital da Luz Funchal celebrated a partnership with Madeira Cycling Association (ACM) and gives the name, this year, to the 46 th edition of Volta à Madeira em Bicicleta, one of the most prestigious and cherished sports competitions in the region . This partnership occurs within the Hospital da Luz strategy of support to the population in access to healthcare and in the promotion of healthy life styles, namely the practise of sport or physical exercise in general. The 46 th Volta à Madeira em Bicicleta – Hospital da Luz Funchal will take place between the 22 and 25 July, along 195,1 km in total. According to ACM, it counts with 82 cyclists enrolled (7 female and 75 male), from 17 different clubs. Of the total of cyclists, 22 come from the mainland. “Luz Saúde Group has been supporting several sports initiatives, professional and amateur, because we believe that healthy habits are beneficial and we are able to give our contribution in the clinical and preventive follow-up of a whole population interested in practising sport in a healthy way”, explained Carlota Cavaco, the director of Hospital da Luz Funchal , in a statement to Diário de Notícias da Madeira. Also Rui Almeida, the president of ACM , highlighted that this agreement aims to “pay tribute to the bond between health and sports”. “The reputation of Luz Saúde group as health and welfare promoting agent of reference at national level, magnifies the work developed by ACM in the interest of cycling in the region”, he stated.
