Hospital da Luz Póvoa de Varzim obtained the maximum rating of clinical excellence in the areas of Orthopaedics (total hip and knee arthroplasties) and Gynaecology (hysterectomies), according to the report of the National System of Evaluation in Healthcare ( Sinas ), elaborated by the Portuguese Healthcare Regulation Authority . The maximum rating (three stars) in the parameter of “Clinical Excellence” is granted, when the results are higher than the average obtained by all healthcare providers. It is also worth noting that Hospital da Luz Póvoa de Varzim obtained high rating (two stars), in the area of Obstetrics (delivery and postnatal care). Sinas is a system of global quality evaluation of healthcare providers, developed by ERS, and with volunteer participation. The report now released concerns the evaluation made in the period between 1 st July 2017 and 30 th June 2018, reflecting the annual performance of healthcare providers.
