Hospital da Luz Setúbal is one of the institutions joining the campaign Pink October (Outubro Rosa), of the Portuguese League Against Cancer. We have acquired 500 little bows that will be distributed to our female clients at the hospital’s entrance, together with information leaflets on the importance of breast cancer prevention. The Pink October movement had its origin in the United States, in the last century 90s, and since then the pink colour has been used all over the world to pay homage to women with breast cancer, raising awareness to the prevention and early diagnosis through screening, and supporting the research in the area. In Portugal, the Portuguese League Against Cancer is the institution that promotes the campaign throughout this month, challenging other institutions and the general population to participate in solidarity initiatives, culminating, on October 30, with the National Day of Breast Cancer Prevention. In Setúbal, the League defies the population to buy its T-shirt and wear it in group walks, then sharing images on social media. And on the 30 th October (from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.), at Casa da Baía, there will be a contest of soup tasting (accompanied by juices and fruits), as a form of fundraising.
