Hospital da Luz Lisboa has now available a new magnetic resonance for use in clinical practice and research: the SIGNA Premier XT 3.0T, the most advanced model from GE HealthCare, incorporating the latest technology acquisition of magnetic resonance images and all the most advanced image data processing platforms. This is the only equipment of the kind existing in Portugal and one in 10 installed in Europe, and it is being used in this hospital in neuroradiology and neurosciences. Since its foundation in 2007, Hospital da Luz Lisboa stands out for its investment in technology and innovation in healthcare providing and clinical research. The acquisition of this new equipment arises in the scope of the project of enhancing and expanding of the hospital, and in the goal of reinforcing the availability of highly innovative clinical and diagnostic technology and creates the necessary conditions for conducting clinical magnetic resonance research that is equivalent to the largest magnetic resonance research centers. Considering the diversity of MR models already installed in Hospital da Luz Lisboa, this new device will be primarily used to perform neuroradiology exams and neurological diseases diagnostic exams (head and spinal cord). With 3.0 Tesla magnetic field, the SIGNA Premier equipment integrates the new AIR antennas (Adaptive Image Receive), exclusive of GE HealthCare, allowing a superior quality of image and higher comfort for patients during the exams (positioning equipment 60% lighter than previous technology). It has been the device elected by reference hospitals associated with leading universities in clinical research, having been distinguished in 2019 with the award of Best New Radiology Device.
