In a journey through the most important clinical areas of Hospital Beatriz Ângelo (HBA), the internist and intensivist physician, coordinator of Grupo Luz Saúde Commission of Infection Control, Carlos Palos, explains the measures that were taken to maintain safety for patients and professionals in healthcare providing. From screening on admission, done to everyone that enters the premises, to the spacing measures in waiting rooms, passing by the regular disinfection of public areas, elevators and touching surfaces, to the operating theatre and imaging exams area, Carlos Palos explains in detail the new reality that HBA users and professionals have to face today, in order to guarantee the safety of all. The separation of circuits for COVID and non-COVID patients was one of the first measures adopted at HBA. «Through questionnaires and temperature measuring, at the hospital entrance, and through specific testing in situations of hospitalization and before certain procedures, we are able to separate circuits for patients and enhance safety inside the premises» , explains Carlos Palos, adding further, right in the beginning of this video journey: «The virus causing this pandemic is essentially transmitted by breathing, therefore the use of masks by all (patients, accompanying people or visitors and, of course, health professionals) is the most important protective measure» . With the resuming of clinical activity and not having yet overcome the pandemic situation of COVID-19, it is fundamental the compliance of all the control and safety measures adopted, by all those who circulate inside HBA. «So that you can continue to rely on the Hospital, that is working since 2012 towards your health and welfare» , states the specialist. In this video, Carlos Palos shows how screening on admission is done, passing then to a consultation area and its respective waiting room, passing by the imaging centre, the operating theatre, outpatient area and emergency service, showing the measures adopted by HBA in all those areas, in this time of pandemic. The specialist also gives special attention to the areas of public circulation, such as waiting rooms, corridors, elevators, and admission receptions, where he also shows the cares that should be taken by all, in every moment.
