Several units of Hospital da Luz network in mainland Portugal and Madeira are part of the Portugal Health Passport project , a platform for British tourists visiting our country who need health care , whether in an emergency or on a scheduled basis. The initiative, which started on August 12, is from Turismo de Portugal and Health Cluster Portugal , within the scope of the campaign #Brelcome - Portugal will never leave you, which is part of the Portuguese State action plan to minimize the consequences of the United Kingdom leaving the European Union. The UK market is the largest emitter of tourists to Portugal (1.8 million guests registered in 2018). The Portugal Health Passport allows these tourists immediate access to high quality urgent care in private units at fixed prices . To benefit from these special prices tourists must: subscribe to the platform; present the passport in one of the participating hospitals. Equally using the passport , but with an appointment with at least 72 hours’ notice, tourists can have access to five types of health check-ups (exam and clinical analysis results will be available between 2-4 days), in the specialties of General Medicine, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, Dermatology and Stomatology.
