It is duly equipped, with vital signs monitors, ventilators for invasive and non-invasive ventilation, blood gas units of measurement, etc. It was decided right from the beginning to keep the service in permanent operation with a doctor and a nurse, which was effected until present.” After the first year of operation, 374 patients had been admitted and, since January to the present day, more 351 patients were received, adds Jorge Pimentel, stressing that “ the UCI grants Hospital da Luz Coimbra a high level of clinical safety and the possibility of performing surgeries with higher risk associated ”.
