The Service of Internal Medicine from Hospital da Luz Lisboa, directed by Alexandra Bayão Horta , will organize the next congress of the Portuguese Society of Internal Medicine (SPMI), which will take place between 27 and 30 May 2021, in Vilamoura. The announcement was made at the end of this year’s congress, that was held at the end of August, in Braga. “To Value Internal Medicine” is the motto chosen for the 27 th National Congress of this specialty. “We are 15 specialists and seven internal doctors. We are working on a diversified program that would be able to involve and motivate all participants along the four days of the SPMI national congress in 2021”, highlights Alexandra Bayão Horta in the video produced by Hospital da Luz Lisboa team, where she unveils the objectives and some of the topics of the 2021 meeting that is now under preparation. “To value Internal Medicine has been and will always be our main goal – when we promote scientific and clinical events such as this congress, when we support the training of younger physicians, or simply when we focus our activity in the patients we follow. But it is also because we wish to assume and recognize that, since opening its doors, Hospital da Luz Lisboa invested in Internal Medicine in a diversified way, electing it as the central medical specialty in the hospital’s clinical structuring”, states Alexandra Bayão Horta. Internal Medicine as the nuclear specialty of a hospital, the proximity to General and Family Medicine and the pre-congress courses – some of which will take place in Lisbon, in the week preceding the meeting, at the Centre of Simulation of Hospital da Luz Learning Health – will be some of the highlights of the 2021 congress.
