There are 2,794 male and female nurses across the Luz Saúde Group . And today, in each of our hospitals and clinics, they have a special day. May 12th is International Nurses Day . This time, and after having received the deserved tribute for their fundamental role in combating the COVID-19 pandemic, they prepare to celebrate the future with the motto: 'Nurses: a voice to lead, a vision for the future of health'. They take care, organize, help, and are there whenever needed. But they gain, with each passing day, the responsibility to assert themselves as transformers of the future of health care. “Nursing is an art. And, to realize it as art, this requires such exclusive devotion, a preparation as rigorous as the work of any painter or sculptor, because what it is to treat the dead canvas or the cold marble compared to treating the living body, the temple of the spirit of God? It is one of the arts; one could say, the most beautiful of the arts!” The phrase is attributed to Florence Nightingale, considered the founder of modern Nursing and who is said to have become as famous at the time as Queen Victoria. May 12th was chosen for International Nurses' Day precisely because it was her birthday. Today, our tribute goes to all those who represent what Florence Nightingale has given us. And that ensure, daily, the best care for each patient, the spirit of change and a future look at the health of all of us. To all the nurses who give their best every day for our patients, thank you very much!
