LUZ 24, a clinical triage service by phone of Hospital da Luz network, that answers and duly refers the most urgent cases of adult patients, will also operate, from September 21 on, for children and youths under 18. LUZ 24 operates via the national unique number: 217 104 424 (also for foreign client who speak english). Before going to the Emergency Service, for instance, the patients can call LUZ 24, a service ensured by a team available 24-hours a day, that will refer them to the most adequate channel in a timely manner. If a trip to the hospital is necessary, our professionals will be already informed of the clinical situation, when the patient gets there. LUZ 24 is a differentiated service in Portugal, operating since early 2020, focused on always providing a more complete answer to all those who seek our services and health professionals, in our units of Hospital da Luz network. Who are our teams and how do they operate: The screening teams include largely experienced nurses; Screening is done following protocols based on the best international practice; The patients can be referred to the Emergency Room, video consultation, priority or programmed consultation, self-care (including in case of covid-19 symptoms), among other channels; The service is also available to clarify doubts, before or after exams / interventions (such as preparation for exams and follow-up after exams, post-surgery and post-hospitalization, among others). Now, you no longer need to postpone urgent care. You can always call LUZ 24, in all comfort and clinical safety. However, LUZ 24 should not be used in emergency situations – where you should always contact first the emergency national number, 112 in Portugal.
