The purpose of the initiative is to detect in time cases of excessive weight and eventual obesity, as well as to evaluate the perception of quality of life associated with weight. The screening will be ensured by a nutritionist of the hospital and will involve measurements of body mass index (BMI) and body composition. Obesity is a chronic disease characterized by the presence of an excessive amount of adipose tissue (fat) in the organism. The most evident symptoms are weight gain and the emergence of areas of fat deposition in the body. Obesity has consequences not only in terms of well-being and physical performance, but also in terms of health , since it raises the risk of several serious diseases (cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal and oncologic, among others) and even premature death.
