Regular follow-up in Paediatrics is very important for the healthy growth and welfare of new-borns, children and youths, even beyond situations of disease. Hospital da Luz Lisboa has all safety conditions and a team of experienced paediatricians available to provide all monitoring consultations – now also with possibility of video consultation and phone consultation –, as well as to give the vaccines included in the National Immunisation Program. The regular monitoring consultations , predicted in the National Program of Child and Youth Health and that must be carried out even in this period of COVID-19 pandemics, should be done in the following ages: 1 st week of life; 1 month; 2 months; 4 months; 6 months; 9 months; 12 months; between 18 and 24 months; 5 years. Appointment scheduling in Paediatrics can be made through any of the channels available: MY LUZ app, site, WhatsApp ( 927 529 648 ) or by phone 217 104 400 . We count with a team of largely experienced paediatricians, who are also available to provide video consultations and phone consultations, in alternative to face-to-face consultations. These means of remote follow-up are even more useful in the interval between face-to-face consultations, in chronic situations and whenever doubts arise. They also constitute a good option to communicate the evolution of the child’s clinical situation, to learn medical recommendations after diagnostic exams or to refill medication prescriptions, for instance. Hospital da Luz Lisboa also makes available the so-called “heel prick” (Guthrie test, the genetic screening to new-borns previewed in the National Program of Neonatal Screening), that should not be neglected and must be performed between the 3 rd and 6 th day after birth. This screening consists in a series of tests that allow to identify certain diseases, mostly genetic, enabling the child to benefit from early treatment. Vaccines: the safest way to prevent diseases Hospital da Luz Lisboa also maintains available the service of vaccination . In the case of children, we administer the (free) vaccines included in the National Immunisation Program – upon prior appointment scheduling, through 217 104 400 – and vaccines extra-Program, if that is the medical recommendation and upon submission of the respective prescription. Remember: vaccines are the most effective mean to prevent severe infectious diseases and the program of immunisation should be always complied with.
