In Hospital da Luz Lisboa maternity, pregnant women can have an accompanying person during the obstetric echographies specified in the pregnancy monitoring plan. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the presence of an accompanying person for patients in consultation or exam is very restricted in Hospital da Luz network units. Accompanying persons are only allowed in strictly necessary cases and now also concerning pregnant women, when doing obstetric ultrasounds. The Hospital da Luz Lisboa Maternity is prepared to provide all the necessary care to that situation and regarding the needs of future mothers and new-borns, in all safety. To prevent COVID-19, we have adopted strict procedures, with autonomous circuits of access to the maternity and of circulation, allowing the presence of accompanying persons (naturally with restricted mobility) for pregnant women during labour, and while the mothers and new-borns are hospitalized. In 2020, the Hospital da Luz Lisboa maternity broke the record of babies born in that unit: 2,850 babies, more 206 than in 2019.
