Nuno Cruz , coordinator of the Dentistry department of Hospital da Luz Coimbra, was reelected last September as president of the Portuguese Society of Implantology and Osseointegration (SOPIO) for the 2019/2021triennium. SOPIO’s goals are “the development, research, study and promotion of Dentistry on the whole and, in particular, oral implantology in all its aspects, as well as ensuring the professional evolution and improvement of its associates” “It emerged to fill a void in the field of scientific societies in the area of dental implantology. Given the evolution over the last 15 to 20 years, it was justified to have a structure whose work aim and action were the scientific and training support in the area”, explains Nuno Cruz. For the next three years, the goals of the board “are to create a network between similar European societies, the development of a structured academy with regular training programs, and to enhance access to scientific sources of information for all members”. Nuno Cruz is a dentist specialized in dental implantology, oral surgery, periodontal surgery and dental aesthetics.
