Lisbon was for the first time the scene of the annual European congress of musculoskeletal radiology (ESSR 2019), under the theme of “ Hip & Advanced MSK Imaging ”. Organized by ESSR (European Society of Musculoskeletal Radiology) and presided by radiologist Vasco Mascarenhas, the director of the musculoskeletal radiology unit from Hospital da Luz Lisboa, the meeting gathered a record number of specialists, internists and students. With around 1200 participants from all over the world , Centro de Congressos de Lisboa received, from 26 to 29 June, national and international speakers. In discussion, were topics related with the latest advancements in the musculoskeletal area, the future of radiology and the role of artificial intelligence in the revolution of diagnosis and medical imaging. The president of the congress highlighted the unprecedented number of participations: “We are very proud to be part of this success. We pass the baton on to Stockholm in 2020, confident that the excellence of ESSR congresses will be maintained.” Hospital da Luz sponsored the ESSR Congress in Lisbon, in the scope of its commitment in the practice of medicine of excellence and innovation significant to patients in the different areas of medical action.
