Hospital da Luz Clínica de Odivelas participated, for the second consecutive year, in the initiative “Compras ao Luar” (Shopping in the Moonlight), promoted by the city on June 28. The goal was to promote the traditional trade, with doors open until midnight, music and lot of entertainment to complete the party scene, offering a different evening. The Hospital da Luz Clínica de Odivelas, in partnership with the Jazzy Life Club gym, performed a free cardiovascular screening , with physical exercise counseling by a personal trainer. Children were entitled to face-painting and balloon twisting, as well as special areas for drawing and painting. The team of professionals of the clinic screened 70 people (22 men and 48 women), who had an evaluation of blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), abdominal perimeter and fat mass. From the total of participants in the screenings: 28 people had high blood pressure 50 had high BMI values and high fat mass percentage 26 had abdominal perimeter values compatible with very high risk of early onset of cardiovascular disease. Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death in Portugal, but they are preventable in 80% of cases.
