The importance of sleep , videogame addiction and how to act in emergency situations are the main topics of the activities that are going to be organized by Hospital da Luz Setúbal at St Peter’s School, in Palmela, until the end of this school year, in the scope of the Health Olympics initiative. The purpose of this ”competition” is to raise the awareness of students, families and professionals for adopting healthier life styles, promoting health and welfar e. These Health Olympics started in November 2019, with sessions on healthy eating and health problems related with smoking. The next challenges were presented to the students last February 18, by José Ferreira Santos, the Hospital da Luz Setúbal clinical director (in the photo above), and Pedro Mata, teacher and coordinator of primary and secondary levels at St Peter’s School . Around 400 students were present and they will be the target of these Olympics, organized as a game with voluntary participation. The intention is that students perform the largest number of activities and challenges proposed , gaining points. The challenges can be overcome individually or in group, depending on the challenge, the winner being who gets more points and qualifying for prizes. The activities are distributed in three topics : Healthy life habits; Sleep; Addiction. Hospital da Luz Setúbal professionals will provide educational sessions on these topics. And there will also take place a “Family Walk” , gathering collaborators and respective family from both institutions.
