Hospital da Luz Guimarães was the official partner in the first São Silvestre de Guimarães , which took place last December 13. Running or walking, over 1,300 people went through the streets of the historic city centre, in a circuit with the start and finish line at Rua Conde D. Henrique, near the statue of D. Afonso Henriques. The participants counted with the support of Hospital da Luz physiotherapists Maria João Ferreira and Carolina Oliveira. Contributing to the big celebration that the competition became, Lu, the Hospital da Luz mascot, was also present. This São Silvestre event was organized by the Athletics Association of Braga, in collaboration with Vitória Sport Clube and the support of Guimarães City Council, Azurém Parish Council, and Guimarães Parish Council. The competition included two possible events: a running and a walking (both 7 km long). Tiago Costa and Beatriz Fernandes, both Vitória SC athletes, were the winners in the running event. Hospital da Luz congratulates all the participants in this first edition of Guimarães São Silvestre and thanks the organization for the invitation to be partner in the initiative . We could not miss a sports event so dear to the community. The support to institutions and sport events is a valuable tool towards the fulfilment of a mission of ours: promoting healthy lifestyles and preventing disease, which includes the safe practice of sport. We are together for sport and health in this Guimarães São Silvestre!
