The Municipality of Loures awarded the administrator of Luz Saúde, Artur Vaz, the Medal of Honor of the Municipality, for the work carried out in front of Hospital Beatriz Ângelo during the ten years in which this public hospital was managed under a Public-Private Partnership by the Group Luz Saúde. Artur Vaz received the medal from the mayor himself, Ricardo Leão, in a ceremony that took place on the day that Loures celebrated its 136th birthday. The administrator of Luz Saúde was honored alongside other “notables” for “raising the name of Loures”, as the mayor said at the time. The Humanitarian Firefighters Associations of the Municipality of Loures, the two-time European futsal champion Izaquel Gomes “Zicky” Té and Zambujalense Futebol Clube received, like Artur Vaz, the Medal of Honor from the municipality. At the same ceremony, several Municipal Medals of Merit and Distinguished Services were awarded to other important names in Loures. Artur Vaz was executive director of the HBA during the ten years that the partnership with the State lasted for the clinical management of this public hospital in Loures. During this period, the HBA became a reference in the provision of excellent health care in several areas, it was recognized as a training center for students of the different health professions and for doctors in the pre and postgraduate stages, having been chosen as the best hospital to do the specialty internship by young doctors in training. It also distinguished itself during the pandemic for being one of the hospitals that received and treated the most patients in the greater Lisbon region. And it has often served as an example, with innovative and disruptive projects, for clinical organization models and new procedures within the SNS. Hospital Beatriz Ângelo, which received the same medal in 2021 for the outstanding service it provided to the entire community in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic , is now recognized by the Câmara de Loures for the excellence of its performance since its foundation.
