The new approaches to treat diabetic foot, the accession of patients to treatments, and the surgical complications were some of the topics in highlight in the seminar “The patient with diabetic foot” , held last 29 of April in the Health School of Aveiro University, promoted together with Hospital da Luz Oiã. The initiative integrates a cycle of seminars destined to health professionals, promoted by these two institutions, and which first edition took place in October 2022. “These seminars have been a success, with the participation of doctors and nurses from across the country”, states Paulo Luiz Farber , the coordinator of the Multidisciplinary Center for Wound Care and Tissue Regeneration of Hospital da Luz Oiã and Hospital da Luz Aveiro. The diabetic foot ulcer is the main cause of infection, amputation and hospitalization of patients with diabetes. These seminars organized by Hospital da Luz and the Health School of Aveiro University count with interventions by health professionals with a vast experience in the treatment of diabetic foot, “representing an added value for the development of specific competences to take care of people with this kind of wounds”, adds Paulo Luiz Farber. Over the course of a day, the participants had also the opportunity to attend thematic workshops.
