Breast lift, or mastopexy , and rhinoplasty are two of the most common procedures of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery , with a fairly quick recovery, as explains Filipe Riobom Brochado , Hospital da Luz specialist in the units of Amarante, Porto and Póvoa de Varzim. Mastopexy (breast lift) is a surgery similar to breast reduction surgery, but where no breast tissue is removed and the volume is maintained. In the lift, the surgeon adds, “the areola and breast tissue are repositioned to an upper level, aesthetically more satisfactory, by removing only the excess of skin and enhancing the breast contour, that becomes more rounded and aesthetically good-looking”. This was the type of intervention performed by Filipe Brochado to Soraia Godinho, one of the candidates selected in TVI show “A tarde é sua” (under the section “Sr. Doutor”). “It is a surgery that requires a two days’ hospitalisation; after a week, women are practically autonomous, resuming normal activity up to three weeks later”, he highlighted. Mastopexy performed at Hospital da Luz Póvoa de Varzim in the TVI show It was also in this Hospital da Luz unit that the surgeon operated a second candidate selected by the abovementioned TV show, in this case a rhinoplasty , meaning the aesthetic correction of the nose. “This is surgery a little more complex than usual, in terms of plastic surgery, because the nose integrates multiple bone and cartilage components, that must be rearranged in order to obtain a harmonious final result”, explains the surgeon, adding that, in Marisa’s case, the candidate of TVI show, the intervention lasted for two hours. In terms of recovery , “there are rather quick postoperative periods and others that require some additional recovery time”, he states, adding that “after two weeks, the operated patient can resume a fairly normal life”.
