Orthopaedist João Teixeira , of the team of the Foot and Ankle Unit from Hospital da Luz Arrábida, led by José Manuel Teixeira , initiated the use of 3D fluoroscopy in reconstructive surgery of calcaneal articular fractures. This new tool enables an anatomic reduction of the fracture and a better global result of surgery, by offering three-dimensional vision in real time. The use of three-dimensional fluoroscopy allows the optimization of complex fractures treatment. In the case of the patient now operated by João Teixeira, the complex fracture of the calcaneus was traumatic and the correction was optimized resorting to 3D fluoroscopy. Orthopaedist in Hospital da Luz network since 2018, João Teixeira is specialized in foot and ankle arthroscopic surgery, ankle chronic instability, foot and ankle percutaneous and minimally invasive surgery, degenerative diseases of foot and ankle, as well as general and sports traumatology.
