It is estimated that over a thousand cases of cancer have not been diagnosed since the beginning of the covid-19 pandemic, due to a lack of demand of medical assistance. Therefore, it is fundamental to maintain surveillance and evaluations of the health condition, alerted the oncologist Sónia Rego in the TV show “Consultório”, broadcasted on October 26 by Porto Canal. “If oncologic diseases are detected in an early stage, we have a significant probability of cure and the treatments have not been interrupted”, highlighted Sónia Rego, who is a Hospital da Luz specialist physician practicing in the units of Arrábida and Oporto. The oncologist indicated the major warning signs we all should be alerted to, since they require immediate response: Constant loss of blood in the stool and/or urine; Extreme fatigue, with no apparent reason; Sudden and significant loss of weight; Alteration in the gastrointestinal transit; Nodes in the breasts and/or armpits; Inflammation of the chest; Persistent cough and hoarseness. These symptoms should not be disregarded and must be immediately evaluated by a doctor, who will provide the correct, safe and efficient guidance. Sónia Rego on Porto Canal
