The Castro Linhares Sports Hall received, last weekend of 13-14 September, the 5 th edition of Hospital da Luz Póvoa de Varzim Trophy, marking the start of the season for CDP Basketball. The competition gathered four reference teams of the national basketball – CD Póvoa Basketball, Ovarense Basketball, Esgueira Basket (also sponsored by Hospital da Luz, in Aveiro) and SC Braga Modalities – providing two intense days of competition, emotion and fair play. The sports hall was filled with supporters who flocked in large number to support the athletes and vibrate with the sports event. In the end of the final match, Ovarense Basketball conquered the first place, repeating last year’s feat and lifting the trophy again. Besides the matches, the tournament counted with moments of great fun inside and outside the playing field, with the presence of Hospital da Luz (Lu) and CDP (Poveirinho) mascots, contaminating the stands with energy and good spirit. The awards were delivered by Sérgio Viana (Hospital da Luz Póvoa de Varzim manager), Pedro Linhares (general director of this unit) and Sérgio Duarte (CDP Basketball president). After the closing ceremony, there was a celebration moment gathering athletes, managers, members, and Hospital da Luz collaborators, thus reinforcing the proximity spirit between the sports club, the community, and the hospital.
