Clube Desportivo da Póvoa conquered the Hospital da Luz 2023 trophy in basketball, after defeating União Desportiva Oliveirense, by 80-71, in a preparation match for the 2023/2024 season. Throughout the match, which took place on the 9 th September at the CDP sports hall, the team led by José Ricardo was always ahead on the scoreboard. The fans flocked in large number to watch the presentation game of the CDP men’s senior team, which will compete in the next season of the Portuguese Basketball League. Cheering the public and aiding to the fun experienced in the stands, was Lu, Hospital da Luz mascot, this time accompanied by Poveirinho, the CDP mascot. Hospital da Luz Póvoa de Varzim is the official medical service provider of the CDP basketball section since 2020, ensuring an individualized clinical follow-up of its athletes.
